Dressage Focus

Dressage is all about consistency and style for both horse and rider. Stride characteristics for each style within a gait are vital to achieving a high performance. Considerable training is required to achieve the different styles within the gaits. Pegasus enables you to compare your performance during training with those at Olympic level and adjust accordingly.

Pegasus uses 21st century technology to do this quickly and accurately. You can be ready to test in the time it takes to tack up. Just three components are needed and you are ready to go:

Each horse has its own natural gait characteristics. Stride Rate and Stride Length are effectively defined in the horse’s walk, trot and canter. We recommend that you first do the Pegasus Tests using the ETB method, riding all of the gaits, at collected, medium and extended. This will help you determine how well the horse’s stride characteristics match those of Olympic winners, which may define the training needed.

The current method for measuring these Olympic standards uses high cost 3D motion detection equipment. This can produce accurate data but it requires a lengthy laborious set-up and is constrained to a number of strides, which are in the field of view of the cameras .

Pegasus can take recordings over a much longer test period to give you and your horse more freedom of movement, thus more accurate results. Pegasus Motion Analysis not only shows you the rhythm and length of stride but the GPS readout shows where you were in the test at any particular time. Are your circles consistent, is your horse anticipating, does your rhythm change at the corners?

You can follow the pink dot to see where you are in the test. You can also use a standard video camera to see how you were performing as a rider.

Freestyle Dressage Riders find Pegasus is an invaluable tool when choosing music to match exactly the rhythm of their horse for each and every pace within any test.
